Changing logos: how can you eliminate all obsolete images from your media library?

When a company changes logos, it’s very important for the brand’s new symbol to be disseminated quickly. The first task is to update your logo library by archiving old logos and adding the new one. The second task – equally important but a lot trickier – is to make sure that photos in your media library that include the old logo (on a website, object, or item of clothing, for example) are no longer used. How can you quickly identify these images?

If the images in your media library are well indexed, this can be done very easily.

Indeed, to optimize a search, indexation – beyond describing a document by using key words (which are part of an indexing language) – should also make it possible to anticipate as accurately as possible developments a brand is likely to experience, such as during a rebranding, for example.

Consequently, you should remember to indicate clearly on each asset whether or not the logo is present. This allows you to avoid wasting time sorting through the images one by one to check whether they include the old emblem; instead, a simple click is all it takes to select and archive obsolete content.

In this way, what may initially seem like excessive indexation in fact proves to be a valuable asset whenever there’s a change – partial or complete – in brand identity, which regularly occurs.

Wedia has an expert indexing division that you can count on to handle all tasks related to managing your media library. Don’t hesitate to contact us to find out more.
